I was interested in Trooper before I even met him, because his parents, Harley and Breezy, are two of my favorite Pyr sheps. Breezy lived with us for several months when she was being bred to Django, and she is such a bright, fun-loving, happy little girl that we were smitten.
Harley is one of the first Pyr sheps I met, and I've always thought him to be a handsome dog of character. I'm also fond of him because he sired our beloved Django!

When I did finally see Trooper for the first time, I was struck by his presence. Even at the age of 10 months, he was a true "stallion of a dog", very masculine, full of himself, and confident. I wanted to one day breed Widget to him - what a dream team, to combine two such extroverted powerhouses! I thought that they complemented each other physically as well as in temperament, doubling up on excellent pigment, structural balance, and athleticism, while Trooper could help Widget with head type and keeping the size moderate.
Trooper's original owner unexpectedly could not keep him, and I was fortunate to not only breed to him, but to add Trooper to our little Madcap pack. Thank you Patricia and Trudi for allowing me to co-own Trooper.

From promising puppy...
....to fulfilling his promise:
Trooper at 20 months
Several people were responsible in developing this young dog - in addition to Trudi Kimm and Patricia Princehouse (La Brise Pyrenean Shepherds and Great Pyrenees), Kim Rice (Raremettle Pyrenean Shepherds and Rhodesian Ridgebacks) exhibited Trooper to his UKC Ch and Group win. Trooper loves to show, and was beautifully schooled by Kim.
Trooper at two years of age in the ring
Thank you, Ernesto Lara, for showing Trooper at the 2011 National Specialty to Select Dog, Best Smooth Face, and new Grand Champion!
Trooper is in training for obedience, agility, freestyle, and herding, and has been started on sheep.
I am delighted with his drive and passion for whatever activity we are pursuing.
We should be ready for the performance ring by this fall/winter.
Trooper gets along well with my other dogs. I keep my dogs together, both indoors and out, both bitches and males. He and Django are best buddies, but he considers my Irisher beneath notice.
Addicted to the whistling blue chuckit balls, Trooper and Django wait eagerly for the toss. Django is trying various positions to get me to chuck the ball. Trooper is employing the "I can stick my tongue up my nose" enticement.
It works! Balls are launched.
Happy boys fetching the balls.
Life is good!
