Three Weeks old
At 3 weeks, the pups are playing with us, each other, and their toys.  They enjoy exploring and are beginning to look up into faces.  They compete for attention and love to be picked up.  At photo time, we waited until the pups were sleepy to take photos.  The girls were not amused - we'll get more pics of them next time.

Jasper got a little overexcited about the liverwurst we were using to keep him on the table for his photos.  He kept wanting to s..t..r..e..t..c..h, and ended up with liverwurst all over his face.

Merry Christmas!
Puppies are 5 weeks old
.At five weeks, the pups are very active.  They are playing with a variety of toys, wanting to interact with the other dogs (especially the big male adolescent IWS Trek), and boldly following us around the house.

It was difficult to get photos of the pups this time, because they mostly just wanted to jump on us.  They were hilarious, so it took a long time to get just a few shots.  Here's Pip greeting Garrett:
Happy New Year!
6 Weeks Old
At 6 weeks, the pups are able to go outside briefly, even in the cold.  They are doing a little retrieving and are very eager to explore and try new things.  Widget has become playful with them, and is starting to gently teach them some manners.  The pups still nurse a little a few times a day, but most of their nutrition now comes from solid food.

Today they helped me do their first farm chore: filling the bird feeders.  Okay, I did the chore, but they "helped" by latching onto my jeans, hanging off my shoelaces, and generally preventing me from walking.

Django has become very interested in the puppies, and Widget is finally allowing him to have a little contact with them.

It's very difficult to get "stacked" shots of the pups at this point.  They wriggle too much!  Will allows himself to be posed a little in this session...
as long as he gets to chew on my fingers.
The puppies have a blast exploring new frontiers
Pip sees something
She goes to check it out.
Will goes too.
Pippa and Ryder discover that it is a Maryland mountain.  Not exactly the Pyrenees, but high enough when you're only six weeks old.
Gadget is consulted: exactly how high is this thing?
Gadget considers.
This mountain is very high.
Not too high for Ryder!

We had a puppy party, and breeder Patricia Princehouse brought the two Django/Bear pups, about 10 days younger than the Django/Widget puppies.

They all had a great time playing together and wearing out the humans with their cuteness, then retired to the puppy bed with all of the toys for a nap.

Kitchen warfare: Who wants the sheepy toy?
We ALL do!!
Even mighty tuggers get tired out.
.
The pups recently celebrated their first birthday.  They are all doing well - Ryder, Gadget, and Will are working on their agility skills, and Pippa has been showing in conformation.  She has both her majors and just needs a few points to finish her championship.

The puppy owners have been fabulous about sending me photos along the way - I will dig up those photos and update this page soon.  Thanks for your patience!
