The pups were whelped on July 12, 2011.  Widget had an easy whelping, starting with the first puppy at 7:30 am, and delivering the sixth (yes, six!) less than two hours later.  Pyr sheps are a rustic, natural breed.  True to her heritage, Widget delivered the pups with no assistance.  She's the kind of bitch who will deliver a pup, clean it, chew the cord, and get the puppy nursing without disturbing the other nursing pups.  It's really lovely to watch.  I had an entire stockpile of equipment, meds, and "just in case" items, but needed none of it.  The tails were docked by my veterinarian when the puppies were three days old.

I don't typically keep ribbons on the puppies, but will try to remember to put them on when taking pictures.

The pups are, in order of birth, collar color, and coat color:
Yellow male: brindle
Green male: fawn
Blue male: brindle
Orange male: brindle
Purple female: fawn
Pink female: brindle

I was thrilled to get pups with such rich coloring!  All are strong and vital right from the start.

......what's this?  Packages from our friend Dede Selph, of
Ballyhoo Irish water spaniels. What could they be?
Ooooo!
It's bandanas and collars and bears, oh my!

Sorry, I took this photo first, found the background distracting, then
forgot to go back and get another one on the neutral background.  Poor orange boy...

Eyes are open, and the pups are exploring their world of the whelping box.  They are playing a little too, with a brief wrestling match after they have nursed.
